To make this shiitake mushroom, I melted a sizable mound of sterling silver scraps into a blob. I added more scraps to the top to give it a mushroom shape. I then carved out the inside of the blob and soldered silver wire. I melted more scraps into the shape of the stem, carved lines down the sides, then soldered the cap and stem together.
The shiitake mushroom hangs on a 23" handmade, sterling silver chain, each link shaped and soldered. The mushroom is solid silver, 1.25" in length. The necklace clasps at the front where I bezeled a natural sky blue stone.
This piece is one of a kind.
